Yassine Tayi, M.Sc.
As a Morrocan clinical psychologist trained in the south of France and licensed in both France and the UAE, I bring a rich and diverse background to my practice. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a dual specialization in both child and adult psychology. My training is grounded in an intercultural approach, which allows me to consider the profound impact of culture on each individual’s experiences, whether they are children or adults.
I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and have extensive experience in trauma-focused therapy. Additionally, I have undergone a five-year psychoanalysis process, as I deeply believe that understanding others begins with understanding oneself.
Adults
For my adult clients, I adopt a Lacanian psychoanalytic approach and incorporate EMDR. This method is particularly helpful for clients seeking to explore and heal the roots of their difficulties, overcome personal or professional challenges, and unlock their potential. Together, we aim to uncover fresh insights and perspectives, allowing for meaningful growth and self-discovery.
Children
In therapy for children, I combine play therapy, drawing, and traditional talk therapy to create a safe, expressive space where kids can share their feelings and inner world. This approach encourages emotional expression and helps them work through challenges like anger, grief, bullying, and difficulties from parental separation.
When it comes to children, symptoms like aggression, selective mutism, or bedwetting often serve as coping mechanisms for situations they can't yet express with words. Through play therapy, drawings, and conversation, we can access the child's inner world—play being the universal language of children.
It’s important that the child understands why they’re attending therapy and what the goals are. I make sure to actively involve the child, keeping them engaged throughout the process. Therapeutic approaches are tailored to the child's specific needs, including EMDR, play therapy, and art therapy.
From playing, drawing, and conversation, we have a window into a child's struggles and the reasons behind their symptoms. Using play, the child and we find ways to address their internal conflicts and help guide parents in supporting their children at home.
My Philosophy
I view therapy as a time accelerator. Life can sometimes feel like a series of repetitive challenges where we find ourselves stuck in the same patterns. Therapy helps break this cycle by uncovering the underlying causes of these difficulties and healing them, providing clarity, and restoring freedom of choice. EMDR is a cornerstone of my practice, and while it is well-known for treating PTSD, I also use it to address a wide range of issues, including grief, performance anxiety, and fear of public speaking.
I am especially passionate about promoting children’s and teenagers’ mental health. My experience includes implementing school-based bullying prevention programs and facilitating group discussions with young people to better understand the challenges they face. I believe every child deserves a safe, non-judgmental space where they can express their emotions and develop their inner resources, especially during difficult times.
When working with children, I take a holistic approach, considering their environment and unique needs. I also collaborate closely with parents, whose insights are invaluable to the therapeutic process. Together, we create a path for meaningful growth and well-being for the child.
